Itala Langmar is an abstract painter and a fiber artist. In both media she strives to evoke the colors and textures of Venice, Italy, her city of origin. Her work is highly influenced by the luminosity and formalism of the Venetian masters Veronese, Tiepolo, and Canaletto. Lately she has introduced text from her poems or otherwise connected to work that relates to the landscape of the soul. She calls her new body of work Geometric Lyricism.
