Agora, Chicago Style

by Roy Slovenko

Agora

Roy Slovenko's comment: "In ancient Greece an agora was a marketplace or square for political assembly. This work by artist Magdalena Abakanowicz was a gift to Chicago from the government of Poland. There were 106 cast-iron figures in a forest-like grouping. Each figure was a nine-foot-tall, shell-like form without heads or arms."
