Like a wounded animal
she remained stuck in her hurts,
nursing them like a doe
who, licking a sore, makes it worse.
The doe drinks deep from the pool
extending herself in the luminous reflection,
one long neck joined, the legs, too,
the pink sunset fragmented in the watery eye.
